Insurance for Craft Business

To get rid of all preconceived ideas first… Your craft business SHOULD have insurance.

Why Does my Craft Business Need Insurance?

Imagine a customer hurt them self on your product, if they choose to claim against you it could cost you silly money. If you have insurance you are safe.

What Insurance does my Craft Business Need

As a minimum I would recommend you have Product Liability (for if your product injures someone or property) and Public Liability (for if an injury occurs in connection with your business – often craft fairs will need to see a copy of this insurance document).

There are other insurances you can look into for your business, but these are the really important ones!

Where to get my Insurance?

There are many different companies offering insurance, but I choose to use A_N Newsletter.

Membership costs £36 a year includes £5m Public and Products Liability (PPL) insurance and access to specialist insurance packages for artists.

Please remember that I am no expert in Insurance, The advice I give is purely that I have learnt in running my own craft business, different businesses are different and therefore what works for me may not work for you.

I make porcelain home decor, accessories, jewellery and buttons in Gunnislake, Cornwall. My work is inspired by the countryside surrounding my home in the Southwest.
